Two and a Half Questions

TWO AND A HALF QUESTIONS documentary film project supported by

Lambeth’s mission to open up the creative and cultural sector to every young person in the borough

Now showing at the Windrush Caribbean Film Festival!

We worked with UINCAP, supported by Lambeth’s ELEVATE programme to deliver one of their seven Neighbourhoods projects.

Two and a half questions is a project to produce a film that allows young people from the global majority to explore their communities’ identities and aspirations.

What did we do?

The project was targeted at BAME young people, who are interested in a career in photography or film production. We trained young people from Lambeth in these areas who then went on to film short interviews with people from a range of fields including the arts, politics, science and academia. They also filmed some of their own personal contacts with a view to creating an hour-long film and shorter clips for broadcast on social media and the website.

The film project began in April and includes the young people researching and contacting the high-profile people that they would like to interview, filming the interviews in small teams and then editing their footage. Each young person got the chance to interview, film and edit within their teams

We are keen for this film to be the beginning of a longer-term, professional relationship with the young people who take part in the project that will allow for the co-creation of a range of new digital projects  and support their active participation in the creative digital economy.

We are now actively looking for partners who would like to arrange a screening of the film. You can view a short clip of the film here and we showed the full version on 19 January at 198 Contemporary Arts and Learning in Brixton. Please email marsha@oxygenarts.com for more information.

Lambeth ELEVATE Neighbourhoods, focuses on young people in their communities, contributing to making Lambeth one of the best places to grow up, where it’s possible to discover a love and talent for creativity, and through that grow in confidence and wellbeing.
