Working with arts professionals both in the UK and abroad, we want to inspire young people to think differently and critically about their lives and the society in which they live. So alongside the practical arts training will be an Exchanges programme which will allow participants to share and inform their worldview in the hopes of producing more reflective work.
While we will present and study the work of artists of all nationalities, we will aim to foster ties with BME and indigenous artists in particular as role models for the students. Over time we hope to arrange trips to other parts of the world where such artists are creating exciting and challenging work despite of a range of disadvantages to encourage the students to find common ground and see a way past the limits of their own situations.
However, Oxygen Arts is not just a training programme but one that ultimately seeks to provide internships and employment for those young people who successfully complete the training. We will build our marketing agency to ensure that young people in our programme have the opportunity to work for us at the beginning of their careers.
We will also develop online and broadcast channels for the programming we produce, hold live performing arts events, festivals, exhibitions and screenings to create the opportunity for our graduates to have a viable career in the arts.
