A group of young refugees launched their photographs at Lambeth’s celebration of its Borough of Sanctuary award in December. Based on the theme of Sanctuary, the young people responded with images and thoughts of what that idea evoked for them.
We worked with the young people over three months last autumn to train them in photography using Sony mirrorless digital cameras and image editing on Pixlr. The words on the images were cast using light directed to the cameras.
The project was funded by Lambeth ELEVATE and we’re currently working with a second group of young refugees in Kennington for the next two months to create more fantastic imagery.
